he said harder, longer strokes.
Yesterday it was red, today it's purple. I didn't just fall, I crashed hard onto the ice landing first on my right knee, then on my left side. I must have been 8 the last time I scraped my knees. Other than the bit of pain when I bend my leg, ice skating was fun. And I can sort of do the two foot spin now, and was given pointers on going backwards.
Afterwards, we enjoyed a relaxing Wei Qi 茶 and cookies on the Samovar patio. It was a nice day out and Yerba Buena was unexpectedly quiet. Though I guess that makes sense since everyone else was at work in the tall buildings surrounding the nature. I should go back again with a book.

London and York, in photos
I have now been to the UK twice. Though the first time was just for a day, I got to see what I came to see ;) Sunday-Tuesday was Paris, then Wednesday-Friday was actually seeing London, and Saturday-Sunday was York.
This seems like a fitting start to this photo set, since Rich surprise-snapped it after I said I didn't want to take any more touristy pictures, and Nicole commented that it looked like a movie still. I hate it.

birthday, part 1
My legs are sore and my throat feels raw. Much fun was had, which was especially nice after spending the morning sitting around completely bummed out. Everyone was out of town on
iseebi's birthday (12/26) and I'll be gone on mine (1/18), so ( we celebrated yesterday ).

There are plenty of pictures and embarrassing videos (omg), which if posted, will be flocked. Thanks everyone for an awesome birthday! Less than a week till Part 2!!

bang bang bang 2009
Mark and Janine's party didn't happen, and BART back to the city would have been crazy so Nicole and I ended up going to Foxes, a bar near them. The place was practically empty when we got there; it was just after 10 and there were maybe 5 others inside. There were 30-40 people by the time midnight approached though.

Our drinks came with a side of condoms (lolwut), and I won a stuffie out of the claw machine. I didn't think I would, since I've never been able to before. Maybe I just needed to be drunk first. I thought it'd be weird to be carrying around a stuffed animal all night, at a bar, on New Year's Eve, but everybody loved it and was impressed I got it out of the machine. Even the security guard. Some guy named it Billy. ( more pics )
It was a fun night, and there was free champagne. Also, I can shake it! A black chick complimented me and danced with me so it must be true. Also also, my outfit was awesome.
Happy 2009!

Not So Silent Night 2008
People on Craigslist were interested in buying my tickets for $95, but I'm glad I decided to go. This year's lineup: some opening band I don't remember the name of, Jack's Mannequin, Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party, Death Cab for Cutie, and The Killers.
gorman and I decided that since
kazwell likes Death Cab, we should too. Adam, this is for you:
I wanted to be on the floor, but free tickets to a sold out show, so can't complain. This is the first time I've been high up; I was hesitant to jump at first because I was sure it'd end with me tumbling down the stairs (the step was next to my seat and only raised in half of the aisle), but I did when The Killers was on and did not fall (did hit the step and the seat in front of me a few times though).
( & some pictures. )

Thanksgiving 2
@ Janine, Mark, and Nicole's. & I contributed! I made cranberry sauce, with orange juice. I thought I was going to completely screw it up, that maybe I should have stuck to water. But it came out well :D
( +3 )
There was also much Mirror's Edge (with uh, lots of falling) and Rock Band 2 (my character got 'fitted with roller skates before I left). Thanks for having me over!

another Saturday night
Saw Twilight with Janine and Nicole, which wasn't so horrible if you think of it as a comedy. Based on Bella's narration in the beginning, I'm glad I didn't try reading the books. And wtf sparkle glittery vampires?? At least I saw Zack & Miri the other week, so I didn't pay for two bad movies in a row (Max Payne).
Met up with Gorman et al. (the guys I met last time) after for dinner (CPK pizza and red velvet cake). I was drunk halfway into my drink... and then they ordered me another one. The rest of the night was a blur of fun (+vodka) on almost every floor, including the roof. Oh, and Gorman managed to actually trip me :(
Joe and Neil walked Nicole and I back to my place. It was only two blocks out of their way, but uphill, so aww. Then we went to get more food because we got hungry again. I've had more curry in the last week than I've had in the last two months.

there's been so much hurt on my friends page
I wish I could bottle up all that pain and toss it out for the ocean to swallow. I wish I could do more than give hugs and tag along on distraction missions. I wish I knew what to say to make it easier to go through.

(re)discovering things i like
When you were a kid, did you ever shade a piece of paper in every color of crayon you had, then covered it in a layer of black so you could carve cool designs into it that would appear in a multitude of colors? That's how I feel now, the top layer peeling away and colors showing through in the shape of a still-to-be-defined me.
We went to The Bazaar Cafe open mic last night. It reminded me of the ones I used to go to in Santa Cruz, and that I haven't been since even though I enjoy these things. So many talented souls sharing and connecting through poetry and song. I was also reminded of how much I enjoy listening to acoustic guitar.

free show at the park
Yesterday,
janinedog,
iseebi, and I went to Summerthing, a free concert at Golden Gate Park. I was dressed all wrong in a skirt and tank top, expecting the weather to remain as hot as it had been at the start of the weekend, the start of the summer. Not even close. My first hint should have been when I woke up at 5am because I was cold (slept with the window open). Also, there was this trapeze thing that looked fun. What was I thinking wearing a skirt.
