69/100 things about me: goodbyes
I hate goodbyes. When I was a kid and relatives came to visit, I would hide when it came time for them to leave so I wouldn't have to say goodbye. Sometimes I still avoid goodbyes, intentionally or not (I missed half the people leaving the AF house).

68/100 things about me: pet names & nicknames
I hate being called Stace. It's Stacey. Very few people can get away with calling me Stace. I also really hate it when strangers call me pet names like honey or sweetheart. Hell, I don't even really like it when people I like call me that. Except sometimes.

67/100 things about me: rain
Rain is one of my favorite weather elements. Streets slicked shiny and lights reflecting movie-like. The gentle refreshing spray of a drizzle or light shower. Falling asleep to the rhythm of raindrops dancing across any surface.

And yet I don't have a rain userpic.

41/100 things about me: little scars
I was 13, playing ice tag, and very determined to tag a certain someone who I totally got before falling forward. I had my hands flat instead of balled into fists when I was getting back up, and someone skated over my right pinky. The cut wasn't deep, but it left a tiny scar about a centimeter long.

40/100 things about me: learning environment
I went to middle school across the street from a volcano. And next door to a cemetery (though that might have been a bit further down).

39/100 things about me: daisies > roses
I'm not a fan of roses. I'd much rather have a bouquet of handpicked wildflowers than a dozen red roses. Daisies have personality. There's something about red roses that feel too contrived (and hey, normally I like cheesey). Also, you can't make daisy chains with roses.

Not to say that I don't like "pretty" flowers. I think orchids are quite lovely.

38/100 things about me: i kissed a girl
Two, actually. I don't remember what Janine said on Halloween that provoked me to respond with "I've kissed more girls than you!", but here's the story.

It was the summer after my first year at Santa Cruz, I was 19. Thinking I wouldn't actually go for it, my boyfriend at the time suggested that I make out with his friend, Kiki. I said I'd do it if he and her boyfriend did too, first. I knew they'd both be repulsed by the idea, and wanted to see how far they'd be willing to go to see me make out with a girl (was new for me, not for Kiki). Their lips mushed together for 5 or 10 seconds (I don't remember what we had agreed to) and their reaction to the whole thing was totally worth it. Then I fulfilled my end of the deal, which was to kiss Kiki with tongue for the same length of time.

The second girl I kissed was also during the same summer, at a party. Also a dare. And we got $20 each for it. It was filmed, or so Mike thought he had filmed it, but there was no video on the camera the next morning.

And that's that. I haven't kissed any more girls since, nor am I interested in doing so.

37/100 things about me: memes
I used to avoid memes almost entirely. I'd post a couple a year at most, if at all. Now I just seem to be filling up my journal with them.

The last one is really interesting though. Do it do it do it!

36/100 things about me: cold hands
My hands are icy cold; I can barely feel my fingers typing this. I tried to warm them up on my laptop, but it had the opposite effect - I cooled my laptop down. The rest of me doesn't get this cold though, just my hands.

p.s. Why is the AC on so high?

33/100 things about me: lowercase letters
I prefer lowercase letters. They just look better. I mostly write with proper capitalization because it's easier to read (and for professionalism at work, of course), but IMs are always lowercase (even if it's work-related). Emails are usually properly capitalized, out of habit. Journal entries are sometimes lowercase - for styling reasons or because I don't feel like hitting the shift key. Handwritten things are also in lowercase (unless it needs to not be).

When I'm on my tablet, if I'm using the on-screen keyboard, all lowercase. Capital letters require too much clicking. If I'm using the handwriting recognition, I'll use capital letters. Even though I don't write in capital letters, I know. (This was written using the handwriting recognition btw)

32/100 things about me: more things I can't do
Charlie Berman reminded me that I can't use a normal lighter. I
can
, it just takes me a lot of tries and I usually give up before I get it. That's why they invented the sliding ones! Also, I don't smoke so it's not like I have any actual use for a lighter.

There was that one time at a party, in front of everyone, when Mike bet $5 ($10?) that I couldn't. I got it on the first attempt. He responded by saying I had only been pretending for the last year or whatever that I couldn't, that I was just waiting to scam him.

I miss those guys.

31/100 things about me: on Oprah
While channel surfing, we caught the end of 20 Richest Women in Entertainment on E! Number one was Oprah, of course. J suggested that we write her a letter asking for help with our rent, since what we pay would be like a quarter for her. He started dictating a letter from me, "Dear Oprah, my family immigrated here when I was young. I'm the daughter of a single parent, and a hard worker..."

During this conversation, I was also heavily engrossed in a DS game. "I was on Oprah," I said nonchalantly.
"You were?"
"Yeah. Oh," I responded, realizing what I had just said.

I was on Oprah, which apparently I had completely forgotten about until just now. This would be random thing about me #31.

I wasn't on the show on the show (in person); it was a video that played on the show, but still, on Oprah. I had 30 seconds in it (or 2 minutes?), talking about the cardboard boat races we did in Physics. My high school might have been on Oprah twice while I was there. I remember a camera crew coming in to film, and I think it was a second time? Either way, I'll have to go dig up my copy of that tape now.

30/100 things about me: whistle like a bird
I also can't whistle. Not loud, anyway. And it sounds more like a bird chirping than whistling.

29/100 things about me: Link Thief
In Link's Awakening (on GameBoy), I started the game with the name THIEF so that I would not be renamed when I stole weapons from the items shop. I also harassed the chickens until they got angry.

Or maybe that was my brother and not me, but I think we both did it. I want to play it again now, for that reason (since back then, I didn't know what easter eggs were, that programmers were cool and add in fun stuff). I think that's the only Zelda game that allows you to steal.

28/100 things about me: non-snapping fingers
I can't snap my fingers. Sometimes it'll make the right sound, but never as loud as I hear from other people. And more often, it's a misfired pfffth, fingers rubbing more than snapping.

At least I am not alone.

27/100 things about me: fork vs. chopsticks
As [info]burr86 pointed out at lunch a couple of months ago, I was the only other one that wasn't using chopsticks, and the only Asian at the table. I can use chopsticks just fine, and have been able to since I was 2 or 3, but most of the time, I prefer a fork. Sometimes I'll favor chopsticks, usually when out with family (when using a fork looks like I can't use chopsticks).

confession #3 and 26/100 things about me: zits and photoshops
I don't think it's fair that I still get zits now that I'm out of my teens.
So sometimes I Photoshop them out. (but usually I don't care or am too lazy to bother to)

25/100 things about me: that shirt
Though each was taken on a different day, I'm wearing the same shirt in the photos on my license, passport, and school ID (from that year).

It's cut off in the pictures, but the graphic on the shirt is a "my name is..." tag with – I'm really embarrassed to admit –
Princess
in silver glitter.

I'm also wearing the shirt in the default userpic on one of my old LJs.
